[Howto] Rust Linux Server


1.) We create a new account to join your server:

adduser rust-server

2.) Download SteamCMD.sh unpack as user rust-server.

su - rust-server
wget http://media.steampowered.com/client/steamcmd_linux.tar.gz
tar xvzf steamcmd_linux.tar.gz

3.) Log in with Steam user + password Download Rust Server (App ID 258550). In case of problems you should look into the official Valve SteamCMD wiki.

./steamcmd.sh
login anonymous
app_update 258550
CTRL+C(after download)

4.) Start Server (64-bit Linux server)

./rust_server -batchmode
Start parameters

-datadir
Directory in which the data is stored
-hostname
The name of the server
-maxplayers
Maximum number of players can play simultaneously on the server
-port
Port on which the server is running
-map
The map with the server should be started
-cfg
The config file that will be used

how to fix?

tip dir and show if see rust_server if not change dir an seach rust_server

not have rust_server...   i try to find / -name rust server  and nothing

not have rust_server...   i try to find / -name rust server  and nothing

I just looked it may not work at present because the Linux files not available on Steam
