Hello, I am going to guide you through the process of settings MTA:SA up on Ubuntu Server 12.04 32bit.

  1. Some common errors people get are related to some dependencies which are very easy to install. So run
    apt-get install libreadline5 libncursesw5 libmysqlclient16

and this will hopefully fix any errors you come accross.

  2. Now you need to make the folder you want to install MTA:SA in. If you don't know, just run

    cd

    then type

    wget http://linux.mtasa.com/dl/140/multitheftauto_linux-1.4.0.tar.gz

    to download the required files.

  3. Next you need to extract the files by running

    tar -xf multitheftauto_linux*

    then run

    mv multitheftauto_linux* mtasa

this will make it easier to start the server.

  4. Now run

    wget http://linux.mtasa.com/dl/140/baseconfig-1.4.0.tar.gz
  5. Then
    tar -xf baseconfig*

  6. mv baseconfig*/* mtasa/mods/deathmatch

  7. After you have done that now type

    cd mtasa

    and then type

    ./mta-server

if you got it right it shall load. If you want the server to run when SSH is disconnected, install screen with

    apt-get install screen
  8. Then run
    screen

    then press space twice, then

    cd mtasa
    ./mta-server

Hope this helped you.
